Welcome to Year 5 Computing — Lesson 4! 🛡️
Today we are exploring how to protect our personal data from hackers and what to do if we encounter something unsafe online. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Keyboard Warm-up ⌨️ (10 Mins)
- Click here to warm up your fingers on our typing studio: Start Typing Practice on Ndovu.
- Focus on correct finger placement and accuracy. Keep practicing until your teacher brings the class together!
Step 2: Video Reflection — Hack Me If You Can 🎬
Watch the Legends Family Adventure episode below. When the video finishes, answer the three reflection questions. Click “Download Answers” to save your work, and then paste it into your Computing Word document.
Step 3: Keeping it Private Group Scenarios 🕵️♂️
Hackers and scammers often use tricks to collect your private details. You will be split into 5 groups, and each group will be given a different real-world scenario to solve.
- Read your group’s scenario together and discuss your answers.
- Decide what the exact reporting steps should be if this happened to you.
- Be ready to present your concerns and learning points back to the class!
Step 4: Interland Etiquette Training 🏰
Put your scam-spotting and privacy skills to the test!
- Click here to play: Play Interland.
- You may choose to explore the Tower of Treasures (to secure your secrets), Reality River (to spot fake profiles and phishing), Mindful Mountain, or the Kind Kingdom.
Step 5: Log Off and Reflect 👋
- Exit Ticket: If you receive a message online that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, what are the exact steps you should take to report it?
- Log out securely and tidy your desk space!
